Ojulari began his oil-and-gas career at Elf Petroleum Nigeria in 1989 and joined Shell Petroleum Development Company in 1991 as an associate production technologist. He became Managing Director of Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company in 2015 and held that position until 2021, when NNPC's corporate biography says he retired from Shell. In January 2024, he became Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Renaissance Africa Energy Company.
